Our Mission Statement

LDS Restorations combining history with technology. To examine historical objects and stories, which may need help in bringing to light the full story, using exhaustive research and technology.

In the LDS culture there are many traditions, stories, myths and legends. By definition a myth or legend is “a traditional story, one that involves gods and heroes and explains a cultural practice or natural object or phenomenon. It is a non-historical or unverifiable story handed down by tradition from earlier times and popularly accepted as historical.” But, just because something is historical does not mean it is factual. There is a saying which states, “Antiquity breeds Authenticity”. This however is utterly false. Just because it is old does not mean it is always fact. There are many myths or legends from the early dates of the Church which have been accepted as truths which are in reality practically incorrect on even false. Joseph Smith said that he did “many things to break down superstition". As he tried breaking down these superstitions and traditions many had a hard time with it. He said at another time, “I have tried for a number of years to get the minds of the Saints prepared to receive the things of God; but we frequently see some of them, after suffering all they have for the work of God, will fly to pieces like glass as soon as anything comes that is contrary to their traditions.”
Legendary traditions only arouse emotion in a person while Truth is accompanied by the Spirit. Elder Packer has said that members of the Church often, mistake “emotional impulses for spiritual”. Here in lies the danger in tradition.

In all of our Projects we strive to clarify and confirm the actual facts and remove any incorrect myths or rumors that might have overlaid themselves into the stories of objects. We seek to do this by combining the technology of the present with the history of the past. The truth has always been out there just waiting to be found. The gospel definition of Truth is “the knowledge of things as they are, as they were and as they are to come.” We seek to find these historical truths in LDS history.
